Dimension Breakout
Use this skill to compare performance, track growth, and identify top and bottom performers across metrics
Using this Skill
The Dimension Breakout skill compares absolute values and growth across various subjects and metrics. It identifies top and bottom performers and ranks the highest-growing or declining players in the market for a given time period. In the configuration, you can set up "metric groups" so that when a user requests a specific metric, the performance across all related metrics is displayed by default. For example, if a user asks, "How do sales for Brand X compare to other competitors?", the answer will include sales, volume, and price automatically.
Skill Setup
Ensure the dataset connection is properly configured.
A minimum of one metric and one dimension is required.
Sample Questions It Can Answer
- Which brands led the category in 2022?
- Which category had the highest sales growth last year?
- What is the volume of the highest-selling brand?
Default Visualization
Table: Each breakout dimension will appear on separate tabs. Multiple metrics can be supported in each table, along with growth values.
Bridge Chart: Used when analyzing growth for a summative metric with a single breakout (e.g., sales by brand).
Support for Share and Contribution Metrics
This skill supports share metrics if set up in the dataset. To choose between "share within" or "contribution" calculations, the dimension hierarchy must be properly configured. Read more.
