Customize Appearance

This guide explains how to customize the appearance of your assistant in the Assistant Settings area. Customization includes updating the assistant's name, description, and footer message, as well as configuring the avatar and selector icon to align with your branding. These settings impact what users see when interacting with the assistant in chat or Skill Studio.

  • Access to Assistant Settings.
  • Necessary permissions to make branding changes.

Customization Options

1. Assistant Name, Description, and Footer

You can manage the assistant's basic details and messaging:

  • Assistant Name: Specify or update the assistant's display name.
  • Description: Add or change the description for context or branding purposes. This may appear in chat or Skill Studio.
  • Footer Message: Add a short, customizable message that appears beneath the chat entry bar for users.

2. Assistant Avatar

The assistant avatar is the icon users see next to system messages in chat. You have multiple options for configuring this image:

Avatar Options:

  • Default Max Icon: Use the built-in Max icon.
  • Browser Favicon: Leverage the favicon configured in Admin → Branding → Browser.
  • Assistant Icon: Use the assistant icon, which can be configured further below.

Supported Upload Details:

  • File Types: PNG, SVG, or JPEG.
  • File Size: Must be 1 MB or smaller.

Icon Image:

Used in assistant lists, navigation, and small display contexts
Remains square format for consistency
Ideal for simplified logos, initials, or brand marks

Format: Supports PNG, JPG, and other standard image formats up to 1MB

Banner Image:

Displayed prominently at the top of chat interfaces
Supports full-width, rectangular formats
Higher resolution support for crisp display
Perfect for company logos, wordmarks, or branded headers

Setting Up Banner Images

How to configure:

Navigate to Settings:

Go to your assistant settings
Click on "Personalization"
Select "Customize Appearance"

Upload Banner Image:

Look for the new "Banner Image" section (separate from icon)
Click to upload your banner image
Choose your file and confirm

Image Requirements:

Format: Supports PNG, JPG, and other standard image formats - up to 1MB
Transparency: PNG files with transparent backgrounds are fully supported
Dimensions: Optimized for full-width display (recommended: 800x200px or similar aspect ratio)
