PowerBI

Build datasets directly through Power BI connections, allowing seamless integration to Power BI data.

Key Benefits

  • Direct Dataset Creation: No need for complex intermediate steps. You can now build datasets directly from your Power BI connection.
  • Faster Setup: Once connected, your Power BI data becomes immediately available for use in Max.
  • Secure Access: All required credentials are securely stored and managed within the connection.

How to Create a Power BI Connection

  1. Navigate to Connections and click Add New Connection.
  2. Choose Power BI as the connection type.
  3. Enter the required credentials:
    • Tenant ID – Your Power BI tenant identifier.
    • Client ID – The application client ID.
    • Client Secret – The application client secret.
    • Workspace ID – The ID of the Power BI workspace where your dataset lives.
    • PBI Dataset ID – The ID of the specific dataset you want to connect to.
  4. Click Test Connection to verify the credentials.
  5. Click Create Connection to save.

Using the Connection to Build a Dataset

Once the Power BI connection is created:

  1. Navigate to Datasets.
  2. Click Add Dataset and select your Power BI connection.
  3. Choose the dataset you want to use from the list of available Power BI datasets.
  4. Configure the dataset as needed, then save.

Why This Matters

  • Streamlined Workflow: Connect once, and your Power BI data is ready for use.
  • Consistent Data Source: Build analysis and assistants on top of a single, reliable Power BI dataset.
  • Improved Efficiency: Eliminate unnecessary data exports or manual integrations.

Note: You must have the appropriate Power BI credentials and dataset access to create and use the connection.
